Future
Following on from the successful acquisition of the pottery site and buildings during the summer of 2011, The Farnham Pottery Trust is establishing a new working group to take the vision of the Trust forward.

Plans include:
Exploiting the strategic positioning of Farnham Pottery in relation to other craft establishments and facilities in the area and building organisational links to these points of contact. An example would be working with West Meon Pottery for the creation of courses to foster skills in the traditional architectural and restoration pottery.

Educational links will extend to local schools providing visits to encourage an understanding of ceramic craft and ‘hands on’ experience.
The central area of the building will create an attractive gallery area which will provide the opportunity for potters to exhibit and sell their work.
In addition, programmes by leading local and national potters will be staged to include lectures and sales of work.

Vision

  • Create a ceramic centre of excellence within the historic setting of the unique Farnham Pottery with appeal to both specialists and the wider public
  • Promote education in ceramics via links with the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham thus restoring the historic links between the Pottery and the College
  • Provide affordable workshops and studios for potters and other crafts people alongside workspace for specialist ceramic production
  • Create a gallery space for the craftspeople to exhibit in and make the whole venue an attractive visitor centre bringing in trade to the crafts people and the café alike.
